TERMS & CONDITIONS
The 2019 Chiltern Art Prize will be the 17th annual art exhibition held in Chiltern, North East Victoria on the Long Weekend in June and is open to all Australian artists. This is a non acquisitive prize and there will be a total prize pool of $5300.
Artists may enter up to three individual works if entering in sections A-C or two individual works only for sections D - E.
The Chiltern Art Prize of $2000 will be awarded to the most outstanding work on display. Highly commended will receive $300. All works entered are eligible for this prize.
Section A Two Dimensional Works. Prize $700. Highly commended $100. May include, but not limited to: Painting (any medium, any subject) Works on paper (any medium, any subject). All works must be framed and wired securely for hanging. Unframed canvas stretchers are acceptable. Works must not exceed 1.2 m x 1.2m or weigh over 10kg.
Section B Three Dimensional Works. Prize $700. Highly commended $100. May include but not limited to: Textiles, ceramics, metalwork or woodwork, stone, carvings or clay sculpting, jewellery and/or wearable art. Works must be assembled and ready for display with stands or plinths to be supplied by the exhibitor where necessary. Works must not exceed 1.2m wide (any height will be acceptable).
Section C Photography. Prize $700. Highly commended $100. Digital or traditional photographic methods are acceptable. Works must be framed and securely wired for hanging. Works must not exceed 1.2m x 1.2m or weigh over 10kg.
Section D Youth Prize. Prize $500. Highly commended $100. Artists may present up to two individual works only, any style, any medium. Artists must be between 15 - 25 years of age as of Friday 7 June 2019.
Section E Young Art Star. Prize - $50 art materials voucher. Highly commended $25 art materials voucher. Artists may present up to two individual works only, any style, any medium. Artists must be under 15 years of age as of Friday 7 June 2019.
Up to three (3) works may be entered in sections A - C with an entry fee of $10 per work. Up to two (2) works may be entered in the under 25 sections (D & E) with an entry fee of $5 per work. Artists under 25 should enter in sections D or E. They may enter in sections A - C if they wish, however, if entering in these categories may not also enter in sections D or E.
A diptych/triptych is one entry and should be priced as one entry. If you would like to price each work individually, they must be entered as separate works.
All work must be presented ready for display, labelled with Name, Contact, Title and Price of work on the back. Suitable display equipment for sculptural work is to be provided by the artist. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor, completed in the last two (2) years and not previously exhibited in the Chiltern Art Prize.
All works will be presented for sale to the public at the price stated on the entry form and may be photographed by organisers and local media for promotional purposes, including marketing material. All works entered must be for sale.
Organisers reserve the right not to hang work if there is insufficient space (all works, however will be judged) or if deemed unsuitable or not appropriately presented for display. This includes unframed/poorly framed or inappropriately strung works.
Fully completed entry forms and exhibition fees must be received by 6pm Friday May 24, 2019. Late entries will not be catalogued.
The Chiltern Memorial Hall will be open to receive works on Thursday June 6th between 9am and 5pm. Please make arrangements for your work to be delivered during this time. Freight deliveries of artwork can also be made during this time, or if prior to this day please send to Chiltern Visitor Information Centre, 30 Main St, Chiltern Vic, 3683. Delivery and return costs are at the expense of the artist.
Personal collection of unsold works must be from the Chiltern War Memorial Hall on Monday June 10th between 4.30pm and 6pm or Tuesday June 11th between 9am and 3pm. UNCOLLECTED WORK CANNOT BE STORED. Please adhere to delivery and collection times as any uncollected works will be disposed of at the discretion of the organisers. Transport for delivery or collection of artwork and any insurance costs are the responsibility of the artist.
All possible care is taken with your work but the organisers accept no liability for lost or damaged works.
A commission of 20% will be retained by the organisers on all work sold. The balance will be forwarded to the artist by cheque or EFT within 14 days.
